Eastpak: the brand with a story to tell

Gosh, is it really that long ago that we were making duffels and packs for the Pentagon?

It seems just like yesterday. Maybe that’s because our military roots still run strong through everything we do. Because even though we've come a long way when it comes to design, we still like to build our bags and luggage to the same, life-saving standards as we did over 60 years ago.

This is the Eastpak story...

It all started when Eastern Canvas Products, Inc. began making duffels and packs for the U.S. Army. (That might explain why we pay so much attention to quality.)

Mark Goldman joins his father's company and discovers a new niche market for its military bags: the U.S. college campus! The Padded Pak'r® backpack is an overnight success and the Eastpak brand is born.

At some point, our ads were almost as famous - and durable - as our backpacks. The Skeleton ad, to pick one at random, is a perfect example of an idea that just won't die.
